Product Application Engineer – Textiles

Position Overview:

A unique opportunity to join a fast-growing and innovative startup in the Minneapolis-St Paul area. Claros Technologies is an advanced materials company developing sustainable solutions for a variety of industries. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Product Application Engineer to join our team. As a Product Application Engineer, you will be supporting application development, identifying customer needs, implementing training, and being a customer facing member of the technical team for Claros’ textile products.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Contribute to new product development under the direction of the Lead Materials Engineer
  • Support development programs by generating demonstration tools, standard operating procedures, and training materials
  • Diagnose and solve customer application issues
  • Act as a go-between for customers and the research and development team through fostering relationships and developing technical understanding of customer needs
  • Coordinate and drive applications with global textile partners
  • Recognize opportunities for new product development

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Textile Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Experience working with customers to solve technical problems
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills

Travel:

May include up to 30% domestic/international

Desired Qualifications

Experience with one or more of the following:

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in application engineering
  • Four (4) years of experience working in the textile or dyeing and printing industry

MAterials Engineer

Position Overview:

A unique opportunity to join a fast-growing and innovative startup in the Minneapolis-St Paul area. Claros Technologies is an advanced materials company developing sustainable solutions for a variety of industries. The company is looking for a talented Materials Scientist. The scientist must have at minimum BS degree in materials science, materials engineering, materials chemistry or a related field. Master’s or PhD in materials science with expertise in Polymer Chemistry preferred.

Major Areas of Accountability:

– Conduct laboratory R&D experiments under direct supervision of the lead scientist. This include sample preparation, data collection and analysis, and suggest improvement of experimental protocols and formulations. Innovation is highly encouraged.

– Record experimental procedures and results in a laboratory notebook and maintain confidentiality.

– Write research reports, manuscripts for publication, and participate in all activities or meetings organized or attended by the company whenever needed.

– Provide training and mentorship to other team members

– Maintain laboratory equipment and facility

– Maintain a clean, friendly and safe work environment

Required Qualifications

• BS in materials science, materials engineering, materials chemistry or related field.

• Knowledge of standard laboratory equipment and chemical laboratory operations.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with one or more of the following:

• MS or PhD in materials science, materials engineering, materials chemistry or related field with experience in polymer chemistry

• Surface and materials characterization techniques

• Nanoparticle synthesis and characterization

• Organic or inorganic synthesis

• Surface coating and functionalization

• Polymer/Textile chemistry

Analytical LABORATORY Technician

Position Overview:

The Laboratory Technician performs the day-to-day sample preparation of the laboratory in accordance with the identified method and applicable ISO/IEC 17025 requirements as well as any additional requirements.

Essential Job Functions:

• Performing lab sample preparation for the final analysis

• Conduct equipment checks

• Maintain the equipment that is used in the sample preparation

• Participate in proficiency testing activities

• Keep accurate records

Qualifications & Training:

Qualifications: a qualified candidate meets the competencies, skills, training, education, knowledge, experience, and physical demands of this job description.

Training: Training in laboratory best practices, chemical and environmental testing laboratory activities, and associated equipment, ISO/IEC 17025:2017, and basic laboratory safety preferred.

Education: Four-year college degree in a scientific field or equivalent laboratory experience.

Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of chemical and environmental laboratory activities and associated equipment.

Experience: Not required. Experience in lab work is preferred
